FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)
Have you just started using private label rights (PLR), done-for-you content, commercial use products? I’ve compiled a list of frequently asked questions that you might have.

Private label rights (PLR) is content you can re-brand and use as your own.
Sometimes, PLR is called “White Label Content”, “Readymade Content”, or “Done for You Content”.
If you’re not sure about what rights come with your content, ask the seller. They’ll be happy to help you.
Many PLR sellers include a license or terms of service with your download. If you don’t see one, then reach out to the PLR provider. They’ll explain their terms and may point you to a page on their website that details this information.
I’ll give you a brief description of how private label rights work but for specific terms, you’ll have to look at each PLR sellers terms.
Some PLR sellers may have rules and stipulations that are unique to them. If in doubt, ALWAYS contact the vendor.
PLR gives you a lot of flexibility for personalizing/rebranding your content. Usually, you’ll receive the editable source files so that you can truly make the content your own and create your own derivative products.
The most important point to note here is the EDITABLE SOURCE FILES! Most variations of the rights are determined by the source files.
So, what are the source files?
If you’re getting written PLR content whether they’re articles, reports or eBooks, the editable source files will most probably be WORD.DOC, .TXT and sometimes.RTF.
What that means is you can edit the document when you have the source files. You can rewrite them or add your own name, images, cover image, and so on.
You can personalize and rebrand the content to your heart’s content and make it look totally different from the original PLR product you purchased.
This is the strongest point of getting PLR from the original seller. You get all the source files to get maximum mileage from the PLR.
Again, remember that a good rule of thumb is this – always pay close attention to the license terms that come with any PLR product.
Private Label Rights (PLR) allow you to take the content and edit it or change it to your liking. You can also sell the content to others, use it to build your mailing list, add it to your membership site, and more.
Resell Rights (RR) allow you to resell the content to your own customers. However, resell rights differ from PLR since you don’t have permission to edit or change the content. You also cannot claim ownership of the content.
Master Resell Rights (MRR) give you permission to sell the content to your own customers. It also gives your customers the right to sell it to others, too. This can be useful if you work in a business-to-business niche. For example, you sell resources to business coaches. Business coaches can buy your product and sell it to the clients they coach. Their clients can then sell it to their communities.
Using PLR saves you time. You could spend 3-6 hours writing and editing just one report or blog post series. That’s before you factor in the time it takes to format your content, schedule it, and promote it on social media.
But if you use PLR, you can take a content pack and turn it into a post series or PDF report in less than an hour. This lets you boost your productivity so you can publish even more content for your hungry community.
Not only do you save time creating content, you also have content that your community will enjoy. After all, you’ve probably spent hours working on a single blog post that you thought was amazing only to receive a lackluster response from your community.
But PLR providers have spent years learning to predict what’s hot in various niches. That means you don’t have to guess what your community wants—the PLR seller has already figured that out for you
Yes. You can take PLR content and sell it to your customers, but only for their personal use.
You can’t take PLR and sell it to your customers as PLR. That’s because your customers don’t have permission to change or edit the PLR content. Only you, the original buyer, has that right.
If you think your customers would like private label rights you can become an affiliate and share it with your list. – NOT AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME
Yes, you can. PLR providers give you this right when you buy the content.
However, some buyers feel uncomfortable doing this. If that’s the case for you, there are other ways to present the material without claiming authorship. For example, on a report you could say “With [Your Name]” or “Insights by [Your Name]” or “Introduction by [Your Name]” or “Edited by [Your Name]”. All of these options allow you to brand the material as your own without expressly stating that you wrote it.
Immediately after you’ve bought new PLR, you should open it and review the content. You can delete any elements that you don’t like. For example, if you buy a large PLR pack and you don’t like the graphics that came with it, delete the graphics and simply keep what you know you’ll use.
After you’ve reviewed the product, create a special folder in DropBox or on your device for PLR content. Store all of your future purchases in this place so you can find the content you need at a glance.
If you buy a lot of PLR content, you can create subfolders by category. For example, you might have a health and wellness website where you like to post PLR. So, have a ‘wellness’ subfolder. If you have a lot of PLR, you can add more categories to your subfolder. That might look something like this:

• My PLR Content > Wellness > Curing Thrush
• My PLR Content > Wellness > Keto Diet
Some people try to use the PLR seller or date they bought the content as a way of categorizing their content. This can work in the beginning stages when you have less content but if you plan to grow your PLR stash, then it can quickly get confusing.
So, try to sort your content by category if possible. Then it’s easy to find the content you need when you’re ready to use it.

That depends on how you plan to use the content. If you want your content to go on your blog, then you should try to edit the post some. This will help you stand out in search engine results when your community is looking for information.
However, if you don’t plan to use the PLR content for web traffic, then using it as-is will be fine. For example, if you take an article pack and upload it as an autoresponder series, then you’ll only need to tweak it to fit your branding.
You can use PLR to create multiple opt-in gifts. If you have multiple opt-in areas on your website, then you’ll get more subscribers for your mailing list. The more your mailing list grows, the more people you have to share your products and services with.
Your subscribers win because they accessed awesome content. You win because you can continue to serve your visitors long after they’ve left your website.
The great thing about using brandable products as an opt-in you won’t have to worry about making it unique.
I’d always add your voice, change to your brand colors, and personalize the content you purchase.
You can repurpose the PLR content you’ve purchased however you want, provided it’s not against the original seller’s terms of use. For example, some PLR sellers don’t want their content placed on a website that you plan to sell.

Make videos from articles
Publish a podcast or audio from blog post
Break up an eBook into short reports
Create a workbook out of the content
Set up as a Chatbot
Use content on your salespage
Post on social media
Create social media graphics
Combine several articles into an eBook
Break apart a planner and make printables
Take journals prompts and send them in an email to your list
So, you can take written content and turn it into other formats like video and audio. You could take a PLR article on the benefits of essential oils and turn it into a Facebook Live video. You could use a PLR report about the keto diet as content for your newest podcast episodes.
Keep in mind you can also use PLR content as content upgrades. If you bought PLR on the topic of nighttime routines, you could create a bedtime checklist as an upgrade. Invite your visitors to download the checklist by subscribing to your mailing list.
The limit of what you can do with done-for-you content is only restricted by what you can think up. This is one reason that I love PLR.
Yes! This can be a great way to get the most value from the content you purchase. You can take a series of blog post PLR and turn it into an autoresponder series or bundle it to make a short report. You can also take small snippets from those same blog posts and use them as updates on social media. The possibilities are endless!
Yes! This can be a great way to create content that’s unique to your brand. Take an article from one PLR seller and turn it into a blog post. Then grab a workbook from another PLR provider and use it as a content upgrade. You can mix and match products in any way you choose, provided you’re following the terms of use from each seller.
No. Publishing an eBook containing private label rights content is against Amazon’s terms of service. This is because Amazon wants the books on their website to be 100% unique content. If you try to upload PLR content, you may have your account banned and not be allowed to publish any of your future books through the Amazon Kindle program.
I have heard of people who have taken an idea or used done-for-you content as the foundation for their book that they put on Amazon but they did NOT copy it word for word.
If you plan to do this, be very careful of how you go about it because Amazon can disable your account if you’re violating their rules.

If you can’t find what you’re looking for, you can always ask a PLR seller. Many of them take requests on content topics and may create a package around your idea.
You can use PLR content to create a sales funnel that your customers can travel through. Post PLR content to social media so visitors come to your website. On your website, you can post PLR on your blog and entice visitors to sign up for your mailing list.
Then you can create an autoresponder series from PLR that sells your latest product or service. PLR is a fantastic way to quickly create multiple products and build highly responsive mailing lists.
Yes! PLR Content comes in a variety of formats. When it comes to purchasing audio or video PLR, always get a sample first. You want to make sure it’s high quality and will be usable in your marketing. If you don’t see a sample, contact the PLR seller directly and ask for one. Many PLR providers will be happy to do this for you.
Most PLR sellers offer graphics with their content and some include the source files. You can open the source files and edit the graphic yourself. This can be an easy way to brand the content before you post it to your website or social media networks.
If source files are included with your purchase, they’re usually in PSD format. You can open these files using a program like Adobe PhotoShop.
However, if you don’t have PhotoShop, you can use a website like Photopea to open PSD files for free. Keep in mind that this may not always be a perfect workaround, but it can be useful if you’re just learning how to edit graphics.
If you’ve come across PLR content you don’t like, ask yourself how much of it you dislike. Remember, you have the right to rewrite, remove, add to or make content say more of what you want. It’s normal to need a few changes to the content you bought.
PLR sellers often write general content so you can take their work and slant it to your audience.
Remember that because of the nature of PLR – most sellers don’t offer refunds. You can ask and let them know why. Some might give you an alternative.
You can find out if they will allow a refund by looking for on their sites. If they don’t allow refunds you can ask if they don’t contact them and see what they say.
This is definitely not a suggestion to go and buy the content and refund it immediately. I only recommend and share people who provide high-quality content and sometimes the content might not be the slant you thought but that doesn’t mean it isn’t quality, so the seller might tell you they won’t refund.

Private label rights content is perfectly ethical and legal to use, as long as you abide by the terms in the PLR license.
There’s a common misconception here that multiple people using the same content is plagiarism. It’s not. It’s exactly how PLR was meant to be used. You’re paying for the rights to use the content.
In fact, private label rights content is created with the understanding that customers will use it on their own website and in their marketing materials.
Many PLR sellers are delighted to come across their content on various websites.
Just ensure that the PLR seller is creating content that’s unique and not stolen from elsewhere. Generally, if you stick to the reputable PLR vendors, this will not be an issue.
I often share with you done-for-you content created and sold from different PLR sellers. I know them personally and they all offer high-quality content that is unique.
Duplicate content became a concern years ago when spammers would create 50 pages on their websites and all 50 pages had the exact same content. This resulted in a thin site that offered no value to users.
Google does NOT penalize PLR content. The duplicate content penalty only occurs when the SAME CONTENT appears multiple times on the SAME BLOG or web property for the sole purpose of getting traffic.
If your website has the same PLR content as another site, search engines won’t care. That’s not considered duplicate content and it won’t hurt your ranking or the other website owners. The same content on different blogs do not incur the wrath of Google. So, only use each PLR article on your site once and you’ll be safe. That’s it.
In fact, there are businesses who “curate” content from people’s sites and use it on their own and that is their whole business model.
When it comes to purchasing PLR, you don’t want to get low quality content that you can’t use in your marketing. That’s why the first thing you should do is look for a content sample on the PLR provider’s website. If they don’t have one, reach out and ask. Review this sample copy to see if it’s up to your standards.
You should also look over the PLR seller’s website carefully. If their website has a ton of typos or it sounds like English isn’t their first-language, then you may run into some problems if purchase their content.
If you like the sample and the seller’s website, then start asking around. You want to make sure the provider is well-known in the PLR or content creation industry. For example, a PLR provider may be new to selling PLR but have spent years as a ghostwriter. In this case, clients and other marketers can vouch for the seller’s quality.
Most readers and customers don’t recognize PLR content unless they’re in a niche like internet marketing where PLR is a common practice.
Regardless of niche, you want to avoid sounding like everyone else, so you’ll want to take your PLR content and re-brand it. This includes removing words that don’t sound like you, adding your own viewpoint, and changing content you disagree with.
Before you buy from a PLR seller, take the time to download some of their free content. Review this content and pay attention to the voice behind it. Is the content easy to follow? Does it sound choppy and artificial or natural and relaxed?
Next, look at the quality of the information. Is the content factual and full of helpful tips or is it filled with inaccuracies and bias? Is the information tediously repeated again and again with only slight differences each time?
Finally, consider how much of the package you would consider usable. Do you love the audio but hate the graphics? Is the PDF report poorly written but the video is engaging and entertaining?
When you buy a PLR package, you don’t have to use everything inside of it. But it can be helpful to know in advance what a PLR provider’s strengths and weaknesses are. Always review a free copy or sample of a seller’s work before making a purchase.
Sign up and join mailing lists for the various PLR sellers that you like. Many of these providers email their list as soon as they have a new product releasing. This means that you can grab the content and use it right away.
Another advantage of this is that PLR providers often give temporary discounts during the first few days of a new release. Acting quick not only gets your fresh content, it also allows you to save a little bit of money, too.
You can also ask a PLR seller how recently they released a package or you can check on their website for a date. But don’t worry if a product has been released for a while—as long as you customize the content for your audience, it won’t matter that it’s not brand new PLR.
No, it isn’t all bad.
In fact, there are several very good PLR vendors out there providing excellent content that is well researched and high-quality that you can use on your blogs, etc.
Do NOT make the mistake of tarring the entire industry with the same brush. What you’ll need to do is discern between the good PLR sellers and the atrocious ones.
I know quite a few of the done-for-you content sellers and low content creators and only recommend people who provide products that are high-quality and if you ever have questions about someone – please ask me.
Don’t get me wrong there is also some PLR being sold that is horrible. The key is to find the reputable sellers and stick with them and who they promote because their reputation is on the line by who they recommend and if they’re any good they’re not going to be sharing PLR that they don’t feel meets their standards of quality.
