Using PLR for email list growth is going to help you build an engaged and profitable email list. Why spend hours creating content from scratch when you can use ready-made materials to attract and nurture new subscribers quickly?
I’ve been selling PLR for several years and I’d like to share how you can leverage it effectively to expand your audience with freebies.
As you may know, email marketing remains a cornerstone of online business success. You might have heard the saying, “The money is in the list” and that is accurate. That is because it provides a direct line of communication with your audience. Not only that but it outperforms social media in engagement and conversions. And the best part… you maintain full ownership of your subscriber list.
So what does an email list have to do with PLR?
Well, it’s an easy way to create lead magnets and email sequences without starting from scratch, that is going to save you time and your audience will want.
In this post, I’ll show you how to use PLR to grow your list.
Don’t worry – you’ll get practical, actionable ideas to implement immediately. The strategies I’m sharing are evergreen, but the results you get will depend on how diligently you apply these techniques.
Ready to learn how to use PLR content to grow your list?
Okay, let’s get started!
Understanding PLR For Email List Growth
First, I’m going to break down PLR content and its role in growing your email list. PLR stands for Private Label Rights – it’s pre-created content you can purchase and use as if it were your own.
Why should PLR be part of your list-building?
As I said before, it’s a major time-saver. Instead of spending hours brainstorming, writing, editing, and designing lead magnets from the ground up, you can get a PLR product, customize it, and set it up as your own.
While there are numerous types of PLR content available, some are more effective for list building than others.
Here are my top picks:
- Printables: Things like worksheets or planners. People love stuff they can print and use right away.
- Checklists: Quick, actionable content that solves a specific problem. These are great for getting quick sign-ups.
- Email courses: Pre-written email series on a topic. Just set them up in your autoresponder, and you’re good to go.
- Challenges: Short, goal-oriented programs. These are awesome for engaging your audience and getting them to invite friends.
When picking PLR for list building, look for content that fits your niche and solves a problem for your audience. The more specific and helpful it is, the better it’ll work for growing your list.
You don’t have to use PLR as-is. In fact, please don’t! Add your own voice, examples, and maybe some extra tips.
That way, you’re offering something unique, even though you didn’t start from scratch.
Creating Irresistible Lead Magnets with PLR for Email List Growth
Now that you know what PLR is, let’s talk about turning it into lead magnets that’ll have people want to join your list.
Consider their challenges – are they struggling with time management, seeking to enhance their self-care routine, or looking to boost productivity? Select PLR content that directly addresses these issues.
When searching for PLR to use as lead magnets, you’ll find various types available. Written content, like articles or reports, can form the foundation of freebies like reports, guides, or eBooks.
Ready-made designs or customizable templates can be used to create attractive checklists or workbooks.
In my shop, I offer these different types of PLR – each can be transformed into powerful lead magnets tailored to your audience’s needs.
Whatever PLR you decide to use, don’t just use it as-is.
Make sure to add your brand colors into that Canva design or rewrite sections of the PLR article to reflect your unique voice and knowledge of the topic. Talk about your personal tips and experiences.
You want to create a lead magnet that resonates with your brand identity, not a generic freebie.
PLR is designed and created to be generic so you can add your flare and personality to it. This is one of the many reasons I love it.
When it comes to design, keep it simple and clean. Use easy-to-read fonts and plenty of white space. If you’re not a design whiz, that’s where those Content Ready Canva Designs come in handy. Just swap out the colors to match your brand, and you’re good to go.
Here’s an idea for a lead magnet using PLR for email list growth:
Let’s say you’re in the self-help niche, focusing on personal growth.
You could use the Goal Setting Report that I have in my shop or if you have PLR content on goals, take the PLR report and transform it into a 7-day challenge.
Pair that with a customizable Canva journal template for daily reflections. I have several different topics on my site, so use those templates as the foundation and then add your own goal-oriented prompts or take out the prompts completely for a blank journal.
Each day, send an email with a goal-setting tip from the PLR content and a prompt for using the journal template. On day 7, offer a bonus PLR checklist on maintaining motivation.
This multi-part lead magnet combines valuable content with practical tools, giving people a real taste of what you offer.
It’s the kind of freebie that will have people eager to sign up and engage with your content. Plus, it will keep you in their mind because you’ll be sending them emails daily, and they’ll be helping them.
You can definitely have a download, and that is it, but the best lead magnets happens when you blend different PLR elements – written content, Canva templates, and printables – to create a unique and highly valuable offering.
This approach not only showcases your expertise but also provides your audience with immediately actionable content.
That’s the sweet spot for lead magnets that convert!
Setting Up Your Email Funnel with PLR Content
With your lead magnet ready, it’s time to set up your email funnel using PLR. This is where you’re creating a system that works for you 24/7.
Start with your opt-in page – it’s the entry point to your email list, so make it count! You can do that with your email newsletter software or if you don’t have one take a look at Kit (previously ConvertKit – read a review by clicking this link).
For this, the best option is to use a page on your site or your email software to create an opt-in page. If you use WordPress try to find a pre-made landing page template as your starting point; if not, the use one from your email company.
Customize it to align with your brand’s visual identity. Keep the copy concise and impactful – clearly communicate what subscribers will receive and why it’s valuable. Use AI software to help you come up with these.
For example, if you’re offering that goal-setting challenge I shared earlier, your headline could be something like “Achieve Your Dreams in 7 Days: Free Goal-Setting Challenge!”
After you’ve set up the landing page, you’ll want to focus on the welcome email series.
To do this, take a few PLR articles (or any of my challenges) on goal setting and break them down into a series of 5-7 emails.
Begin with a warm welcome and deliver your lead magnet. Then, in each email, share a quick tip or insight from your PLR content.
Here’s a suggested structure:
- Email 1: Welcome and lead magnet delivery
- Emails 2-4: Quick tips from your PLR articles
- Email 5: Soft pitch for a related product or service
I’ve mentioned my challenges a few times, and they work great for a lead magnet. You’ll find information about the topic and action steps in each email. This will get the participants not only to read, but use what you’re sending them.
No matter the type of freebie you pick, you need to make sure to provide value in every email. Don’t just copy and paste the PLR – customize it. You can do that easily by adding your own personality and experiences to make it unique and engaging.
Finally, automate this funnel.
Most email service providers offer autoresponder functionality. Load your emails, set the timing (I recommend spreading them out over 7-10 days), and you’re set!
When you’re done each new person who has subscribed will automatically receive your welcome email series.
It might be tempting to set-it-and-forget-it the email series , but make sure to monitor your open rates and click-through rates.
If certain elements aren’t performing well, don’t hesitate to make adjustments. Experiment with different subject lines or rearrange your content.
The great thing about using PLR is that you have a wealth of material to work with!
Promoting Your PLR-Based Lead Magnets
Now that you’ve created an awesome lead magnet, it’s time to promote it. Social media is an excellent platform for this.
You’ll want eye-catching graphics announcing your freebie and PLR Canva templates making this easy. Share these on Instagram, Facebook, or wherever your target audience is most active.
Don’t limit yourself to a single post – maintain a consistent presence to keep your offer top-of-mind.
Content marketing is another powerful promotional tool. Take out portions of your PLR content and transform them into blog posts or short videos. This gives readers an example of what they’ll receive in your lead magnet if they subscribe to your list.
If you’ve set up the goal-setting challenge, you could write a blog post about the SMART goals or use another related PLR article. At the end, invite readers to join the challenge by signing up.
Keep consistent in your promotion. You’ll want to make sure to add your lead magnet to the calendar every two to three months so that you’ll see a steady increase in sign-ups!
In the blog post, I’ve covered how to use PLR for email list growth. From understanding the fundamentals of PLR, to creating irresistible lead magnets, setting up your email funnel, and promoting your freebies – you now have the knowledge to start building your list like a pro.
Success comes from taking action. Why not start today? Select a PLR pack, create a compelling lead magnet, and promote it. Your future self (and your growing email list) will thank you!
